SUSTAINABLE DESIGNS

The outdoor spaces we design often become the heart of a community. Open Air Studios’ philosophy for sustainable landscape design extends beyond our fundamental commitment to “do no harm” to existing land and resources. Reducing carbon from the atmosphere, improving air quality, and supporting the local ecology are incorporated into every project. Whether our design challenge encompasses many acres or a few parking lot islands, every aspect of our work aims to make a positive impact on the natural area, as well as the people who interact with it.

Our intimate knowledge of Texas’ natural ecosystems, native trees and plants, and climate informs every stage of our design process, creating low-impact sustainable spaces that are resilient, energy-efficient, air- and water-friendly, and require minimal maintenance. Our outdoor spaces not only support the environmental infrastructure, but they are also self-regenerating spaces and economically sustainable.
